Why do you keep offering your stuff for Free?

People often wonder why  I tend to give out the fruits of my hard work for free all of the time. I'm sure the thought of, 'You're probably not that good', or 'You suck, so you have to give your stuff away to get people to read it', has been uttered by those who aren't quite familiar with me or my work. Maybe to many people and other authors my work does suck, but to some, it is loved and it means something.
Yes, writing is very hard work. Surprisingly, not many people truly understand that. It takes a hell of a lot of time, emotion, frustration, and creativity, and not everyone can do it. But there are many people, like myself, who enjoy getting lost in a good story as a positive, refreshing mental escape from reality.
I write for the what the journey of telling a story gives to me. Also, in knowing that the person on the other end, the reader, is enjoying it as much as I did while writing it. Writing is therapy for me. I write because I love to write, not so I can keep constant track of money made, books sold, and my ratings.
I will always continue to write and share my work with others no matter what others may think or say. I write because there is always someone out there who my writing affects in a positive way, and it becomes their therapy. So in short, if I can offer my work to as many people as I can for FREE with no expectations in return, then that is what I will continue to do.
